Our Story

About the Owner
Heidi Buxman is the owner of Sew Together Quilt Shop. It has been her dream to have her own shop since she was in her early 20’s. Heidi remembers playing on the floor, pinning patterns for her mother when she was very young and then made her first dress when she was 13 years old. She discovered the world of quilting in 2015. Since then, she has produced many quilts, become a longarm quilter and now a quilt shop owner. Heidi has an excellent eye for combining color and textures and her unique art quilts have won several awards at the New Mexico State Fair. She enjoys assisting her customers with design and fabric selections as well as sharing her vast knowledge of quilting tips and techniques.

Tiffany is the daughter of the Owner...You might see her once in a while when Heidi is away. Tiffany has been sewing since she was a teenager and made her first quilt in 2020.

Elizabeth Whitehead (Liz) is an avid quilter with over 30 years of experience and a quilt
designer for the last 11 years. Her love of color and design started when she took a
commercial art class in high school. Along with the skills she learned as a Civil Engineer (now
retired) her love of building transferred to creating designs and using fabric as her medium. Liz
enjoys teaching quilting techniques to beginner quilters all the way to advanced quilters and
created two mystery blocks of the month, teaching various techniques along with fabric/color
coordination as the year progressed.
Liz currently designs quilts for several fabric manufactures and has been featured in Better
Home and Gardens Quilt Shop magazine and now has her own website showing many of the
patterns that she has designed for fabric manufactures. She especially enjoys designing for
quilt shops.
Liz is an avid photographer and has been published on several websites and earned several
“Photos of the Week” within the photography groups that she participates in.
She is now exploring the worlds of digital surface design and watercolors where she hopes to
create fabric lines in the future. You can see her work at www.windmillquilts.net
